Since my mum bought her first Smart car, I've developed a keeness for them, eventually buying my first one in 2009. This page details what Smarts I've owned.

2009-2012, 2012- : Smart City-Coupe mk5

This was my first Smart, a mk5 RHD City-Coupe (given the registration date, one of the first RHD's I think). It was in the Pure trim, so it had a radio/cassette and a few other bits and bobs that made it rather cool. As a car designed to go in the city, it wasn't meant to go on long voyages, but it did. I've been all the way to Eastbourne from Merseyside, up to Keswick and Yorkshire. It's also been up a steep (and when we say steep, STEEP) hillside in Snowdonia, Wales. It was perfectly capable of keeping with motorway traffic (although you do need to understand how good each gear is at which speed) and damn easy to run. Put simply, this is a car that could do a whole lot more than simply be a city-car.

2012 : Smart ForFour

This is the Smart ForFour and its quite radically different from its predecessor (barring the blatenly obvious). While the city-coupe had 44hp, this has 109hp. So you can imagine the wheel-spinning wildness thats come off that. This is in the Passion form, so its got most of the toys that came with it, including the Multimedia Navigator, the multifunctional steering wheel and, oh joy of joys, a armrest with cupholders in. Yes, its got the lounge seats as well (but I've yet to find a use for them, unless I get kicked out of the house ;) ). I've yet to really push it but so far, its proving to be more of a powerhaus than I first imagined. Also, yes, this one comes with the 6-speed semi-auto. Its not really a smart with one, no? :) Update:I ended up having this for two weeks before returning it. Its going to be someones Smart and they will love it to pieces but My Smart is the City-Coupe. Really liked the Sat-Nav though...

2012 - : The next Smart?

Currently considering my options on this one. I test drove a Smart CDI and it wasn't all that bad but the one I wanted (45hp Cabrio) had gone before I had a chance so may consider getting a 84hp turbo cabrio instead. Watch this space.
